You Can't Wear A Black Choker In The Summer, That's Social Suicide

After some pretty extensive market research (aka a solid glance over the accessory sections in a number of stores that basics frequently shop at), it has been officially decided (by me) that the classic black choker that graced the neck of betches near and far for the past year is pronounced dead. How do I know that? Well, Forever 21 has stopped styling all their models with black chokers, and once Forever 21 stops doing something, you know it's over. At the moment, the cause of death is still unknown, but I'm going to guess that it's due to the fact that it was being sold in mass quantities at Rue 21 (a store that I am just recently learning still exists.)   Of course, like all trends that succumb to the likes of preteen girls who spend all of their parents' money at Claire's, the black choker is […] Read more »

Rihanna Wore A Glammed-Out Face Mask To Coachella And Pulled It Off Flawlessly

Every celebrity is trying to have the most eye-catching, gorgeous outfit for Coachella but obviously none of them can hold a candle to Rihanna. The singer showed up to the music festival over the weekend covered in crystals. And I mean literally head to toe in crystals! RiRi was truly beautiful, like a diamond in the sky, in a rhinestone silver bodysuit and face mask. Rih completed the look with rhinestone sunglasses, cutoff jean shorts, and a Gucci tank top with the words Common sense is not that common written on it in a marker. Instagram Rihanna also gave fans a look at what the wild outfit looks like without the mask covering her face. Instagram This glammed-out, otherworldly look seems to be perfectly in line with the Rihannas new aesthetic. Rih just completed filming her role as a fashionable, shape-shifting alien for the upcoming Valerian and the City of […] Read more »

Goodbye, geek glasses: why aviators are this seasons biggest eyewear trend

Thick frames are out, and the classic pilots specs designed for aviation and then sold as sporting equipment are back, thanks to the vogue for the 70s look Music to your ears, or rather for your eyes: geek glasses the thick, dark acetate frames associated with Le Corbusier, SpongeBob SquarePants and last decades much-maligned hipster stereotype are on the wane. So claims the New York Times, anyway. It says that aviator-shaped glasses thin, steel or titanium frames, based on the shape worn by pilots during the second world war are this seasons frame of choice. If this seems unlikely, then keep looking. Luxottica, the Italian company with the monopoly on eyewear (Chanel, Persol and Ray-Ban frames are all sold through them) has noticed the same thing: Wired frames, and aviators in particular, have become more popular lately. So popular, in fact, that Ray-Ban relaunched its aviator opticals this year. Vision […] Read more »

'Snatched' is classic Schumer humor without the heart of 'Trainwreck'

It's been two years' since Amy Schumer's critically-acclaimed Trainwreck, and the comedian has hardly become complacent. In the interim, Schumer won an Emmy and then wrapped a season of Inside Amy Schumer, published The Girl With the Lower Back Tattoo, and wrote a screenplay with Jennifer Lawrence. Her latest film venture, the mother-daughter buddy-com Snatched, co-starring Goldie Hawn, isn't a Trainwreck-level breakthrough, and Schumer is in a much brighter public spotlight than she was in 2015. Mashable's Angie Han described the film as a "wasted opportunity" in which the leads outshine the story, and critics generally agreed that there is little beyond the surface. Find out what critics thought of Snatched below. SEE ALSO: Amy Schumer's 'Snatched' wants to be funny and emotional, but only succeeds at one of those things   Schumer & Hawn Owen Glieberman, Variety: Schumer is a virtuoso of cringe comedy. You'll Never Find Love If You Can't Laugh At Yourself First

Beforemy first official date with my now boyfriend, I didnt really remember what he looked like, to be quite honest. I had met him a few days earlier at a bar, and there were even of us together, but he was wearing sunglasses and a hat in the pictures, so I didnt REALLY know what he would look like in normal people clothes. Not to mention the obvious fact that we were at a bar, and it was my birthday weekend, so my memory of that weekend is a little fuzzy. Anyway, when our date finally rolled around, I was starting to get a little worried about the execution of this whole identifying him thing. I had a few choices here: I could freak out and leave (coward). I could make up some weird excuse as to why I needed to know exactly what he was wearing (liar). I could […] Read more »

Your Favorite 90s Sunglasses Are In Style Again & Here's Where To Get Them

Recently, celebrities have been wearing tiny oval sunglasses and I have a lot of mixed feelings about it. Normally, Im into almost anything Rihanna or Bella Hadid does, but Im having a hard time warming up to this eyewear trend. I feel like its mostly due to the fact that this style of sunnies wont cover much of my face, which could be problematic when Im hungover or drunk in an inappropriate setting. (Which is always.) However, Kylie Jenner and Jordyn Woods wore some tiny shades to Panda Express during the first weekend of Coachella. Im coming up with exactly zero reasons as to why Kylie Jenner and Jordyn Woods would ever be at Panda Express during Coachella if they werent a) hungover or b) day drunk, so Im assuming these sunglasses are somewhat functional.   Here are a few pairs of weird, small oval sunglasses that you may enjoy […] Read more »

Jimmy Choo seeks well-heeled buyer - BBC News

Image copyright Getty Images Image caption Best foot forward - Jimmy Choo claim Emma Stone as a long time fan Luxury shoe maker Jimmy Choo is the go-to for celebrities looking to wear a pair of killer heels on the red carpet. Now the British firm is going on a strut of its own, as its board puts the business up for sale. Valued at about 700m, analysts believe Jimmy Choo could attract attention from rival luxury houses as well as Chinese, Middle Eastern and Russian buyers. As well as shoes, Jimmy Choo produces a range of luxury goods, but has seen sales slow in recent years. The move received backing from Jimmy Choo's main shareholder JAB Holdings, which is also an investor in Krispy Kreme doughnuts and household goods giant Reckitt Benckiser.   A sale would be the latest twist for the business, which started as a bespoke shoemaker […] Read more »

Snapchat's future Spectacles will have augmented reality

Image: snap inc. Snapchat isn't done with Spectacles, its video-camera sunglasses. The first version, released in November, was a disappointment for some, not for its lack of color selection, but for the absence of augmented reality. But a patent published Thursday reveals an augmented future for Spectacles and other wearables and gadgets made by Snap Inc., the camera company. Like this: .@Snapchat Patent also teases Snapchat's future version of @Spectacles that will include augmented reality (look at the display) pic.twitter.com/iBkvRIt19F Kerry Flynn (@kerrymflynn) May 4, 2017 Those two displays at the top of the glasses could sense what is around you and then also display augmented reality. Rei Kawakubo interview: Contemporary culture does not allow for nuance

The Japanese fashion designer has had a huge influence on what we wear ever since the late 1970s and this week she became the first living designer to be given a solo show at New Yorks Metropolitan Museum for 34 years The morning after Mondays gala launch of the Metropolitan Museums new fashion exhibition, the internet was awash with images of partygoers. Rihanna in latticed thigh-high boots, Madonna in cocktail camo print, Katie Perry veiled in blood red. However, it took a painstaking search to unearth just one photograph taken on the night of the woman for whom the party was held. Eventually, on the third slide of a New York Times party gallery after Kendall Jenner, before Jourdan Dunn I found a single image of Rei Kawakubo, the subject of the exhibition and guest of honour at the party. Kawakubo is wearing a white leather biker jacket zipped close […] Read more »
