Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's official engagement portraits are here

BTW If your Facebook feed has burned you out on melodramatic engagement photos forever, fear not: Prince Harry and Meghan Markle only have two. The newly-engaged royal couple are home for the holidays and attending events like “Queen Elizabeth II’s annual Christmas lunch at Buckingham Palace,” but they reportedly made time for a quick engagement shoot at Frogmore House in Windsor, England, earlier this week. Fashion photographer Alexi Lubomirski was responsible for the photos. According to Hello! magazine, Lubomirski—a descendant of Polish royalty himself—is no stranger to a glamorous celebrity shoot. He has worked with Vogue, GQ, and Harper’s Bazaar to shoot covers with stars like Beyoncé, Charlize Theron, Gwyneth Paltrow, Natalie Portman, Jennifer Lopez, Jennifer Aniston, and Julia Roberts over the years. He also apprenticed under legendary fashion photographer Mario Testino, who took Prince William and Kate Middleton’s engagement photos back in 2010. 10 Black-Owned Clothing Brands To Support In Honor Of Kwanzaa Crawl

What is Kwanzaa? Growing up, I always imagined it as a sort of black Christmas and I always felt cheated by the fact that my family didn’t celebrate it. I felt like I was the black person who didn’t know what Kwanzaa meant, but as comedian and actress Kerry Coddett highlights in her web series “Kwanzaa Actually,” a lot of people don’t know much about the holiday. Kwanzaa is celebrated around the same time as Christmas, taking place for a week between Dec. 26 and Jan. 1, and this year, Kwanza Crawl returns in Brooklyn and Harlem. Kwanzaa Crawl is a pub crawl which seeks to celebrate black-owned bars, a la the popular Santa Con festivities. Attendees are encouraged to wear clothing that celebrates their culture, history, and makes them feel unapologetically black. This year, Coddett is hosting the second annual Kwanzaa crawl on December 26, 2017 in New York […] Read more »

Artist's spectacular glasses 'give trash a second chance'

(CNN)Ever since he was a young boy, Kenyan artist Cyrus Kabiru has envisaged breathing new life into his surroundings. "When I woke up every morning, the first thing I'd see was trash," recalls Kabiru, whose childhood home faced a garbage heap where all of Nairobi's waste was dumped. "I used to say to my dad that when I grow up, I want to give trash a second chance." And that's exactly what he went on to do.       A self-taught sculptor and painter, Kabiru is crafting visually striking artworks from abandoned refuse he collects from the streets of the Kenyan capital. In Kabiru's hands, cast-aside bolts, wires, spoons and bottle tops gain a new lease of life as vital components of whimsical pieces of art.       Africa's feathered fashion export   […] Read more »

Taylor Swift Wrote A Sad, Handwritten Poem For British 'Vogue'

Say what you want about Taylor Swift (which, believe me, I will), but we can all agree the girl is a gifted songwriter. That I cannot deny, no matter how much I hate her interpersonal relationships and personal brand and everything about who she chooses to be. But honestly, I'm starting to rethink even her songwriting abilities after she published this very sad, handwritten poem in British It's called "The Trick To Holding On," and it's pretty long, but I really want you all to experience its full effect. I'll be inserting my poetical analysis, because I majored in Creative Writing in college and this may be my one chance to use my degree. (Take that, dad!)   The author of this poem appears to be New Taylor, the Taylor who does not have time for anyone's criticisms of her bullshit. She's letting it all go: the ones who hurt her (the […] Read more »
